It is easy the justify our mistakes. Transgressions conveniently propped upon the shoulders of an unsuspecting scapegoat. Easy prey to assume blame for our unfortunate circumstances. It's hard to admit that no one is causing our pain. We are our own worst enemies.
If we can't move beyond the past, we can't focus on the future. There will always be something we should have done better, or some opportunity we should not have missed. There will always be more chances to redeem yourself, and now you are significantly more prepared to do just that.
Own your mistakes and move on. Regret, guilt, and anger can easily debilitate progress. These time wasting negative emotions can quickly siphon positive energy away from the mission. Keep your goals focused on the "big picture." Sometimes fixing the problem is as simple as letting it go.
"Do you want to know who you are? Don't ask. Act! Action will delineate you."
- Thomas Jefferson

The ability to move forward through the obstacles is a big part of achieving any goal. Life can hit hard, and will continue to do so. Without a focused vision for the future, one is left exposed to the "inevitability of unfortunate events."
Look for opportunities to leverage your experience. It is likely that many people are a few steps behind, about to make similar mistakes. Leadership works through personal relatedness. Share your story, and become a source of inspiration.

"Under pressure, you don’t rise to the occasion, you sink to the level of your training. That’s why we train so hard" - A Navy Seal
Having been a business owner for almost ten years, I have learned one valuable lesson. There are no losers. There are only those who have lost. A defeat can demoralize and leave wounds. Consolidate these losses, and find a pattern of negative behavior. This is a good place to start implementing changes. With a strategy, loss can quickly become one’s opportunity.
“The difference in winning and losing is, most often, not quitting.” -Walt Disney
From an entrepreneur's perspective, triumph in the face of adversity, provides a narrative to tell a story of heroism and redemption. This can give instant credibility to one’s reinvention into a role of leadership. In essence, perception becomes reality.
“An entrepreneur isn’t someone who owns a business, it’s someone who makes things happen.”
-Tim Ferriss
An origin story narrative by way of redemption will follow a typical format. This is one example:
On a misguided path, a protagonist endures a period of anxiety and despair. Until one day, a life changing event takes place. Mistakes are realized. Changes are made. New guidelines are implemented to ensure the survival of a new discovered way of life.
A hero rises from the ashes of defeat. A leader is reborn. A pioneer with new knowledge learned from experience.
The hero launches a mission to share this sacred information with like-minded individuals. A compassionate visionary, with methods to remove fear, and replace lost hope. He/she creates a network united under a common goal to inspire others, and make a lasting difference in the world.
With dignity and honor, the hero has proven his/her worth through pain and perseverance. Carrying the treasures collected along the journey, he/she must now share these secrets with those in need.
The logical answer was the foundation of a business. One, which helps its customers implement changes, set goals, and stay the course toward prosperity, and enlightenment. Any monetary commitment is irrelevant compared to the boundless fealty of a devoted leader. Also, the many hours one must allot in delivering so much priceless value. Complemented, of course, with plenty of free content to read and share on the internet.
“It’s not about the amount of wealth you can accumulate, it’s about the impact and change you can create.”
-Neil Blumenthal, Warby Parker
When given the opportunity, one should not avoid projecting confidence and positive energy. In the aftermath of the most dire situations, one can share their experiences, and subsequently help others walking in similar shoes. By contributing material with a goal of making a difference in the lives of others, the result is a means to further help one's self. This, in my opinion, is the greatest reward of all.
